- Title
ANGOLA — BRAZIL, PORTUGAL: Trade Rivals.
- Abstract
The article reports on the increasing economic growth rate of Angolan trade with Brazil and its economic relation with Portugal, as of November 2007. According to the report, Portuguese exports to Angola have increased over the past year by 40.7%, while Angolan trade with Brazil has risen six-fold since 2002 and is still growing fast. The section also discusses the direct political implications of Angola's phenomenal rise in the economic importance for Portugal. It states that the Angola market is also important for a key sector of Portugal's economy, the construction industry, which is going through a crisis at home, blamed largely on bureaucratic obstacles to new projects.
