Chaperoning adolescents: A bygone era or modern medical necessity?
- Authors
Toulany, Alène; Katzman, Debra K.; Goldberg, Eudice; Matlow, Anne; Kaufman, Miriam
- Abstract
The article presents the author's comments related to medical chaperones for general and/or intimate examinations of teenagers, in Canada. The author states that any examination of teenagers in which they are asked to remove clothing can potentially result in distress, because they are preoccupied with their changing bodies. As mentioned, there is a lack of guidelines regarding the roles and responsibilities of chaperones for children or adolescents.
