- Title
A New Approach to Monitoring Dengue Activity.
- Authors
Madoff, Lawrence C.; Fisman, David N.; Kass-Hout, Taha
- Abstract
The article discusses the comments of the authors on monitoring dengue activity in the U.S. They emphasize the disadvantages of the hierarchical nature of formal public health surveillance for such disease. They stress that the development of a complementary system of informal surveillance by the government address such drawbacks. They also assert that the development of web-based surveillance tools does not represent a revolution in how the surveillance is conceptualized.
