The article discusses the author's views about access to health care for Native Americans as of 2017, and it mentions how various members of the Standing Rock Sioux Indian tribe protested the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Tribal health care and the treatment of medical conditions such as hypothermia and cardiac arrest are examined. The 1954 U.S. Menominee Termination Act is assessed, as well as America's Indian Health Service.
