- Abstract
The article presents information on rehabilitation programs for polio. Former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was stricken with polio at the age of 39, put his political skills to work on behalf of other polio victims to develop a rehabilitation center in Warm Springs, Georgia. He transferred leadership of the rehabilitation center development to his law partner, Basil O'Connor. Warm Springs became a nonprofit foundation under O'Connor, and created the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.
