- Abstract
A biography of 18th-century Anglican minister William Agar is presented. Agar was born in 1709 or 1710 in Yorkshire, England, and served as the chaplain of the British Army's 20th Regiment of Foot during the Seven Years War. He emigrated to colonial Massachusetts in 1765 after experiencing marital problems and worked as a missionary. After settling in Williamsburg, Virginia, Agar worked as a mathematics professor at the College of William and Mary. He died in 1776.
