- Title
Antarctic moss is home to many epiphytic bacteria that secrete antifreeze proteins.

- Abstract
The article discusses a study on use of antifreeze proteins (AFP) as measures of freeze protection by Antarctic moss, or Bryum argenteum. It states AFP are found in plants that overwinter in the frozen state, and insects spruce budworm, and mentions that the proteins are also synthesized by a number microorganisms. It notes findings of metagenome analysis inferring measures acquired by Antarctic moss that lead to accumulation of AFPs secreted by epiphytic bacteria living on its surface.
