- Abstract
Background: The existence of eclampsia not preceded by an increase in blood pressure before has a huge role in maternal death. This study aimed to analyze the case of eclampsia without high blood pressure detected in one week before. Material and Methods: This was a retrospective study from medical records, including the maternal and child health handbook in patients with eclampsia from January 2015 to December 2015. Results: There were 72 cases of eclampsia, 31 women (43%) without high blood pressure, 27 women (37.5%) with high blood pressure, and 14 women (19.5%) with no available data. There were 31 women (43%) of eclampsia without high blood pressure one week before having more proportion of primigravida, age <20 years old, Intrauterine fetal Death (IUFD), postpartum occurrence, and 29- 34 weeks of pregnancy. Conclusion: There was a high proportion of eclampsia cases that did not precede an increase in blood pressure a week before.
