- Abstract
The article presents practical advice for U.S. lawyers on how to improve their legal writing through the use of clear and concise sentences that do not contain a great deal of legal terminology (legalese). Communication in the law is addressed, along with clarity and brevity in the construction of legal documents such as settlement agreements. The use of acronyms and defined terms in legal writing is examined, along with composition based on plain English language.
