- Abstract
This article reports on a collaborative research initiative undertaken between conservation biology scientists and wildlife and ecosystem managers in the French Alps to conserve native brown trout (Salmo trutta) threatened by invasive species. Topics include the frequently observed dichotomy between conservation biology research and practice, the interactions that occurred between fishery scientists and fishery managers during the study, and the potential funding changes that could encourage further collaboration in applied ecology.
