This essay is an attempt to critically and carefully discuss the concept of development. Drawing on a personal biography written about my little sister Nadja, severely disabled since birth but gifted with skills seldomly counted as important in our contemporary society, I use queer temporality theory to investigate what a life like Nadja's can teach us about growing sideways rather than up, living in circles rather than fast forward and focusing on refinement and deepening rather than hurrying on.
