- Abstract
The Protonovel concept, proposed by the author, refers to a period of transition in which certain myths are separated from the oral tradition and move in the written culture, usually through a process of translation. Tobit belongs to this genre. This is a deuterocanonical story that we have three versions in Greek, four in Aramaic and one in Hebrew. This protonovel is related to the Hermetic literature of Antiquity. The analysis of its discourse shows that it is a case (Tobit case) with a magical and hermetic dimension (the journey of his son Tobias).
