- Title
Platonov's Last Word: The Magic Ring Reconsidered.
- Authors
Chandler, Robert
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "The Magic Ring," by Soviet author Andrei Platonov, is presented. It describes the book as an integral final chapter in a single book consisting of Platonov's varied works. It states that the book is a collection of skazki, or folktales, in which Platonov plays on the meanings of words, "dobro" and "dobrota." It discusses folkloric elements in Platonov's works such as "Chevengur," and the parallels between the books, "The Foundation Pit" and "Dzhan."
