Georgian Popular Music and the Cliché of the Nation at War.
- Authors
Ninoshvili, Lauren
- Abstract
The article offers the author's insight on the representations of the violence of the military in the popular music of Georgia since the collapse of the Soviet Union in war. The author says that the popular repertoire abounds with romantic and glorified state violence accounts, as well as the hackneyed military heroism symbols of virulent males. Moreover, she discusses examples of the concept, such as the reinterpretation of popular musicians of war-associated traditional expressive forms.
