- Title
Rare Breeding of the Northern Saw-whet Owl in New Jersey in a Man-made Nest Box.
- Authors
Soucy Jr., Leonard J.
- Abstract
The article discusses the Northern Saw-whet Owls (Aegolius acadicus), considered as very rare breeders in New Jersey, which have been found on a private farm in Somerset County on May 18, 2008, suggesting that the species may be breeding more widely than previously expected. The nesting records various firsts for the state including the first occupied saw-whet owl nest written, the first breeding known to have occurred in a man-made nest box, and the first time young have ever been banded.
