- Abstract
Quality, cost, speed, and satisfaction that are becoming more valuable in the product and service sectors are more associated with total quality management applications with management approach. The importance of quality management tools, which are JIT/Kanban, 5S, quality function deployment (qfd), quality circles, six sigma, total productive maintenance (TPM), benchmarking, and poka-yoke is increasing in the formulation and implementation of department-level strategies. In this context, the implementation of department-level strategies will depend on the data/information to be considered in the perspective of the benefit provided by the quality management tools to the organizations. The research aims to examine the impact and differentiating role of quality management tools on the formulation and implementation of department-level strategies. The sample consists of 150 participants in managerial positions. According to the findings, benchmarking has been the most effective application in the emergence of strategic orientation at the departmental level. The application with the minor effect was determined as Poke-Yoke. In creating the strategic plan, the contribution of other departments and business owners revealed a significant relationship with quality management tools at most. Differentiates in benefits and effectiveness for those who contribute to the formulation of the strategic plan are emerged for JIT, QFD, Sixsigma and TPM. The implementation of benchmarking and quality circles significantly differentiates the executing of strategic plans. The benefit and effectiveness evaluation of 5S, SixSigma and Benchmaring applications differ statistically in terms of how much of the time is spent on strategic analysis and decision-making activities as a department.
