- Abstract
The article offers information on the legislation of Zimbabwe government for non governmental (NGO) or civil society organisations (CSO). It states that the Welfare Organisations Act during the colonial era regulated the operations of organisations considered to be associated with the liberal movement and other groups disseminating the human rights condition in the country. It also mentions the Private Voluntary Organisations (PVO) Act, which primarily covers CSOs that provides certain provision for the welfare of individuals or families. It notes that registered organisations are permitted to perform any activities within the prescribed registration certificate. However, some activities of CSOs involving financial support have been influenced because of the recession.
