- Abstract
The article discusses American informed consent laws in relation to evidence-based educational tools known as patient decision aids (PDAs), and it mentions how certification incentivizes PDA use by assuring patients, physicians, and payers about the accuracy and completeness of information. Preference misdiagnosis involving the desires of patients is addressed, along with the certification of PDAs in Washington State and medical battery and mandated disclosures under U.S. medical law.
