- Abstract
The article presents a study on the love feast, or Liebesmahl, in four Pietist groups that had a shared economy in the U.S. The four groups are the Ephrata Cloister and Moravian settlement-congregations in the eighteenth century, the Harmonist Society villages and the Amana Inspirationist colonies of the nineteenth century. The article begins with a description and discussion of the love feast and its origins. It continues with the description of the four groups and their use of the love feast.
