- Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the level of inclusion of calcium hydroxide (lime) in the intake "Supplement Rumen Activator" (SAR) based on green banana. 12 cattle 264 ± 55 kg of live weight in confinement were used. The experiment lasted 21 days, where the inclusion of lime in the SAR was of 0; 3; 6 and 9% lime as intake restrictor. Was evaluated consumer dynamics (g/treatment/day), consumption SAR (g/animal/day) and time spent on consumption (sec), the latter two variables were evaluated for eight hours in the last five days of the experiment. In the dynamics of consumption was the lowest intake restrictor for treatments (3; 6 and 9% lime), relative to the control (0 %) with values 36b, 27b, 30b and 120a g/animal/day (P < 0.001) average in 21 days and last five days were 26b, 19b, 22b and 86a g/animal/day (P < 0.001); time spent intake the "SAR" for animal (270, 321, 314 and 1 81 sec/animal/treatment; P=0.871) with for intake frequency (5, 7, 8 y 6 some/animal/8 h; P=0.625). Lime consumption achieved restrict SAR, while the different inclusion levels were similar potential this restriction, without affecting their frequency and time intake.
