- Abstract
With the aim of understanding the motivations of electric vehicle buyers in Colombia, the main objective of this work is to describe the purchase decision process followed by the owners of Renault Twizy electric vehicles in Bogotá, for their acquisition. A descriptive study was developed, with a non-experimental field design. A sample of 126 Renault Twizy owners in Bogotá was taken, representing 60% of the owners of this type of vehicle in the city in 2019. An online questionnaire was applied that inquired about the variables and stages of the purchase decision-making process. The results were statistically analyzed using SPSS software. Among the findings, it stands out that the owners bought this type of vehicle to avoid the "pico y placa", because they feel responsible with the environment, and because they want to save fuel. Most of them moved in combustion vehicles previously. It is concluded that Colombia and Latin America are in a very incipient phase in their development of the electric mobility market and one of the great limitations for this is the consumers' set of perceptions and preferences. Although the outlook is still very modest, everything points to this market continuing to grow both in sales figures and consumer trends, influenced by new values such as practicality, consumption economy and environmental protection, among others.
