- Abstract
This article examines whether Africa, and specifically Kenya, will be able to rise up from poverty and become a fully developed region. It is reported that between 2002 and 2007 Kenya has experienced its largest economic growth rate since the 1970s. Economic growth rates are at historic highs throughout Africa, and democratization appears to be becoming more established. The article explains that the two main reasons for Africa's previous hardships were bad economic policies and weak state institutions. An overview is presented on the factors that are leading to Africa becoming more developed in 2008.
