- Title
"What revels are in hand?": A Change of Direction at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada.
- Authors
PAROLIN, PETER
- Abstract
The article assesses the influential artistic directorship of Richard Monette at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada. It cites the accomplishments of the director during his tenure, including the creation of a classical theater conservatory. Also mentioned are major changes to the event, which is said to be committed to playwright William Shakespeare and the classics. He was accused by his critics of being more concerned with revenue than with quality of the plays he programmed, despite his financial success.
