- Title
A Positive Outcome from the Tests?
- Abstract
The author reflects on the potential impact of the California High School Exit Exam's (CAHSEE) implementation on the quality of English teaching and education in the state. He says that many teachers will choose to leave earlier than they might have in the next few years because their idealism and optimism have been corroded by an educational culture that gives more emphasis on testing than on academic growth or intellectual engagement.
