- Abstract
The article focuses on the importance of the reading methods course on secondary teachers as part of their teacher preparation program in California. It offers tips for teachers who work with new teachers to help them put into practice some techniques in teaching. It also presents a brief description of the activities of the course. Moreover, it looks into some comments from student portfolios after completing the course activities. It suggests that content teachers are responsible for emphasizing reading and writing activities through regularly collecting informal diagnostic information about the reading, writing, and study habits of students.
