- Abstract
The article looks at Mikhail Tomsky, chairman of the Soviet Union's Central Council of Trade Unions (VTsSPS), with a particular focus on his role in Soviet foreign policy during the 1920s. Details on his work in promoting positive relations with the British Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the International Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU) are presented. Other topics include the 1926 General Strike in Great Britain and the Soviet economic policy known as the New Economic Policy (NEP).
