- Abstract
This article, published in Angewandte Chemie, explores the solvation structure of lithium polysulfides (Li2Sn) in electrolytes used in lithium-sulfur batteries. The authors, Bo-Quan Li, Qiang Zhang, and their team, investigate how LiPSs interact with other electrolyte components and form specific ion-solvent complexes. They find that Li salt anions are favored to enter the first solvation sheath of cationic LiPSs and form contact ion pairs, which updates our understanding of ion-solvent interaction in Li-S batteries. This research provides valuable insights for the development of more efficient and stable lithium-sulfur batteries.
