- Abstract
The article discusses mathematical research. Researchers warn against the use of statistical methods to forecast the future when the underlying conditions are subject to change. Researcher W.B. Deming clearly pointed out the irrelevance and danger of acceptable quality levels. Despite these and other warnings from the wise, Quality and Reliability (Q&R) mathematicians continue to produce "refinements" to mathematical prediction models. Hundreds of Q&R conference papers appear annually, the authors flying in the face of these warnings and of the lack of underlying logic.
