- Abstract
The article focuses on the study that aims to examine the impact of severe tissue thiamine deficiency on ischaemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in rat kidneys after renal transplantation. It mentions significant decreases in renal biochemical and functional thiamine status as a result of thiamine deficiency induction during ischaemia reperfusion. It suggests that thiamine deficiency with weight loss complications is protective against renal IRI instead of being a factor increasing susceptibility.
