- Authors

- Abstract
This article analyze how at Northern Telecom Ltd. (NT) the sharing of a compelling vision, both within a company and with customers, led to the "reengineering" of an end-to-end process in a complex business. Senior managers around the world are facing rapidly escalating economic, governmental, social, and environmental pressures requiring significant business changes. The lessons of experience at NT illustrate the critical need to challenge the current culture, establish process infrastructures and select the right people to champion and accelerate change. These people must be impassioned and tenacious ready to challenge the way things are done and drive the transformation process. Only then can process revolutions be the response to the global pressures of tomorrow. The next challenge for NT is a Global Process Council, which is under consideration. This new council would glue together the global functional process councils established in marketing, manufacturing, and engineering, and would drive new integrated, global business processes into place.
