- Abstract
The article focuses on the empirical and theoretical context of pesticides by-laws implemented in Canada. It explores pesticide by-law, that was passed in Caledon, Ontario, in 2003, in order to shed further light on the wider significance of the pesticide reform movement. It states that the residents of Caledon are the most environmentally conscious and have an extensive recycling program and work towards encouraging its citizens' in the protecting and restoring Caledon's natural heritage. Caledon is one of the five municipalities in Ontario that has enacted a by-law restricting the use of pesticides for aesthetic use. The Healthy Horticultural Landscapes by-law that guarantees safe use of pesticides, and encourages unconventional techniques for the management of pests such as weeds.
