- Abstract
The article discusses the implications of the financial crisis for regulatory capital sufficiency. Two of the Basel II documents issued by federal banking agencies are a proposal for risk-based capital rules for noncore banks and supervisory guidance on capital adequacy for core banks. Federal responses to the financial crisis include the Capital Purchase Program (CPP), the Supervisory Capital Assistance Program (SCAP) and the capital reform principles issued by the U.S. Treasury.
