- Abstract
Objective: To retrospectively compare the efficacy of curved angle and unilateral percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). Methods: The clinical data of 98 OVCF patients who were admitted to the Department of Orthopedics of The The 71st Army Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army from January 2020 to January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into curved angle group (n=51) and unilateral group (n=47) according to the different surgical methods, the perioperative indexes, bilateral distribution of bone cement, bone cement leakage, visual analogue scale (VAS), Oswestry dysfunction index (ODI) and complication rate were compared between two groups. Results: There was no difference in intraoperative blood loss, total treatment cost and hospitalization time between two groups(P>0.05). Compared with unilateral group, the bilateral distribution of bone cement in curved angle group was better, and the incidence of bone cement leakage was lower (P<0.05). Compared with unilateral group, the operation time in curved angle group was longer, the amount of bone cement injection and the number of intraoperative fluoroscopy were less (P<0.05). Compared with unilateral group, the ODI and VAS scores in curved angle group were lower at 1 week after operation and 12 weeks after operation (P<0.05). Conclusions: Compare with unilateral PVP, curved PVP in the treatment of OVCF, which can achieve considerable results, reduce the incidence of bone cement leakage, reduce postoperative pain, and promote postoperative functional recovery.
