- Abstract
The Second Vatican Council in its dogmatic constitution Lumen Gentium postulated a renewal of the concept of holiness that has found its echo, at least, in two complementary considerations. On the one hand, the universal character of holiness as a vocation linked to baptism. On the other, the intimate relation betweenof saints andwith the Church’s life. Both considerations have a deep theological imprint and have been developed in different contexts by the later magisterium. Taking up these considerations, Pope Francis offers a pastoral vision of both questions, that of holiness and that of the saints, illuminating in a specific way the preceding magisterium.
