- Abstract
Objective To provide a highly efficient and noninvasive examination method for clinical diagnosis, we compared the diagnostic value among ultrasound, KUB and nonenhanced multi-slice CT for patients with acute renal colic caused by ureteric calculi. Methods 194 patients who were diagnosed ureteric calculi in the department of urology between January 2011 and August 2013. All patients were examined by nonenhanced ultrasound, KUB and multi-slice CT, and the findings were compared with the gold standard. Results The diagnostic coincidence rate of nonenhanced multi-slice computer tomography, KUB and ultrasonography was 100%, 79.3%, and 73.4%, respectively. The diagnostic accuracy of ureteral stone by CT (100% ) was significantly higher than that by ultrasound (P < 0.01). There was no difference between ultrasound and KUB in diagnosis coincidence rate of ureteral calculi (P> 0.05). Conclusion Nonenhanced multi-slice CT is a highly efficient and accurate method for the diagnosis of acute renal colic caused by ureteral calculi, and it is superior to ultrasound and KUB.
