- Abstract
The article discusses a study conducted by Magkos F. and others published within the issue, related to effects of lorcaserin, serotonin 2C receptor agonist for obesity treatment, on glycemic parameters in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) patients. Topics discussed include receptors expressed on pro-opiomelamocortin (POMC) neurons shown regulating glucose and energy homeostasis in mouse models, provoking of hyperphagia from loss of receptors in POMC and support for lorcaserin as part of algorithm.
