- Authors
O'kane, Martin
- Abstract
The article focuses on the iconography of Ruth and its interpretations. It says that the first illustrations of Ruth were illuminated by the French such as in Bible Moralisée, one of a unique group of Bibles, in which its commentary captions are also included. It also comments on the works from Michelangelo as deeply influential, works from Nicolas Poussin as less influential, and popularity from the images increased in the 19th and 20th century including works from William Blake.
