- Abstract
The article presents a study showing that angiopoeietin-like protein2 (angptl2) overexpression is enough to expand definitive hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) in zebrafish embryos. Topics discussed include the need for angptl1 and 2 for definitive hematopoiesis and vascular specification, angptls' genetic interaction with notch, and notch's exertion of cell autonomous effects on hemogenic endothelial cells and HSPCs.
