- Abstract
The following paper presents some considerations about the anti-asylum fight and the mental health care reform in Brazil in the last forty years. With the aim of critically evaluating propositions developed and the historical trajectory of the Public Policy on Psychosocial Care, the authors, through documentary sources such as the reports of the National Conferences on Mental Health (I to IV), ordinances and normative acts of the Ministry of Health, wonder what they can or cannot celebrate after forty years of questioning the asylum model and after the implementation of new care strategies for people in psychological distress and their families. Publications produced on the subject and reception strategies developed by public and private services are presented and discussed, which are cited and commented on from the propositions defended by entities and interdisciplinary groups of health professionals involved with the subject of mental health currently in Brazil. The authors conclude by considering that there are more reasons to celebrate than to regret the results achieved by the interdisciplinary militancy of the Anti-Asylum Fight.
