Involucramiento y participación política de la Iglesia católica en México: Estudio comparado en Colima y Guanajuato.
- Authors
Ramírez Ramírez, Juan Jesús
- Abstract
The objective is to make a theoretical proposal that explains the political involvement of the Catholic Church in Mexico, using a comparative design of more similar cases: Colima and Guanajuato share similarities in the control variables but they are different in the independent and dependent variables. As a result, it is observed that the involvement in the electoral area is determined by the local institutions on the subject; while, on legislative issues, it depends on the mobilization capacity of related groups and opponents of Catholic Church doctrine. Although it is necessary to test hypotheses in other religious contexts, this research represents an effort to provide explanations of the phenomenon from the perspective of political science.
