- Title
No Change to Child Support Obligation After Voluntary Retirement.
- Authors
Godkewitsch, Clio M.
- Abstract
The article discusses a court case in which the Saskatchewan Court of Queen's Bench in Canada ruled that a person will not be relieved of child support obligations unless his reported income reduction is based on involuntary retirement. In Stockton vs. Simoneau, the petitioner husband decided to retire because he had reached his maximum pension entitlement, leading to a decline in his annual income. The provisions of the Pension Benefits Standards Act, 1985 were reviewed in light of this case.
