- Abstract
The study carries out a historical-comparative analysis of the institutional evolution of the technological, commercial and organizational dimensions of the Agroindustrial System (SAG) of coffee in Colombia. To this end, the 'explanatory variables' and the 'response variable' have been defined, this being determined as the production of quality coffee in Colombia in the years between 1990 and 2016. The period refers to that in which the conditions of international trade coffee were configured for a new structure of demand and supply, which generated changes in the traditional productive and commercial practices in that country. In the methodological procedure, temporal cut-offs were used, identified as 'cases', and a comparative analysis table, which integrated different indicators, permitting comparison. The findings revealed that the institutions corresponding to the technological component had their greatest importance in this evolution and the competitiveness of the product and that the institutional construction conceived from the coordination of the SAG, through the implementation of a strategy of differentiation based on quality, produced impact of in the efficiency and competitiveness of this system.
