- Abstract
The article presents the text of the George Richardson Lecture 2012 delivered by Carole Dale Spencer of the Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Indiana. Spencer explores the legacy of Hannah Whitall Smith, a Quaker from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who became a founding member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and provided labor union speeches. He also discusses some of the topics explored by Smith, including Christian socialism, feminism and Quakerism.
