- Abstract
The COVID-19 infection has affected the world's population and the health systems that have coped with it. However, the respiratory effects addressed from physiotherapy are still uncertain. Therefore, this literature review aims to establish the perspectives of interventions from respiratory physiotherapy in subjects infected with COVID-19 where the Pubmed, Medline, PEDro and Scielo databases were selected in the search for scientific articles and management guides in English, Portuguese, and Spanish on the molecular bases and functional effects of COVID-19 on the respiratory system. It was possible to conclude that respiratory physiotherapy implies a therapeutic clinical reasoning about the cellular and morphological changes of the respiratory muscles that arise from pathokinesis, pneumatic interventions, ventilatory positioning which determine positive effects in the reduction of physical complications, hospital stay and improvement of physical and functional performance.
