- Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the spatial distribution of dengue fever cases in the urban spaces of João Pessoa, Cabedelo and Bayeux municipalities, associating the urban environments with the areas of greater occurrence of this disease. The confirmed cases of dengue was acquired by the health departaments of João Pessoa, Cabedelo and Bayeux, through an national information system for notifiable diseases (Sistema Nacional de Agravos de Notificação - SINAN), referring to registered cases between the period of 2011 and 2014. The results of the analysis of the occurrence of cases were produced by the use of geoprocessing and spatial data interpolation (Kernel) techniques, as well as fieldwork in sites with the highest concentration of dengue fever. The districts with the largest number of cases in João Pessoa municipality were: São José, Mandacarú, Jaguaribe and Grotão. The districts with the most notifications in Cabedelo municipality were: Centro, Recanto do Poço, Renascer and Parque Esperança. The area with the highest dengue fever occurrence in Bayeux municipality was the Imaculada district. In all of these districts, a large amount of exposed solid waste was found, which acts as breeding ground for Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes, in additionlow performance of urban cleaning services.. These facts became the main evidences of the public health problem in the study area related to dengue fever.
