- Abstract
The article discusses three books related to the history of Christianity in China. The first book, "Missions Étrangères de Paris (MEP) and China from the Seventeenth Century to the Present," fills a gap in research by focusing on the MEP's presence in China. The second book, "Jesuit Mission and Submission: Qing Rulership and the Fate of Christianity in China, 1644–1735," explores the relationship between Jesuit missionaries and the Qing rulers. The third book, "Jesuit Mission and Submission: Qing Rulership and the Fate of Christianity in China, 1644–1735," examines the status of Jesuit missionaries as bondservants in the Kangxi era. These books provide valuable insights into the history of Christianity in China and its interactions with Chinese culture and rulers.
