- Title
The Confidentiality of Researcher's Notes And Interviews In Public Policy And Environmental Health Studies.
- Authors
Curran, William J.
- Abstract
The article examines the confidentiality of researcher's notes and interviews concerning public policy and environmental health in the U.S. It explores the delicate nature of this privilege, the exercise of discretion, and the sources of evidence. The privilege can be resolved if the only source of information is the researcher, unless a patient gave consent to such disclosure, then the information cannot be given. This situation affects major studies involving health hazards related to chronic diseases. The researchers are in need of protection against improper data disclosure due to the sensitivity of private interests of the subjects involved.
