- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the effect of atorvastatin on arterial stiffness and endothelial function in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1). The long-term risks for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in children with DM1 may be reduced by the early and aggressive management of CVD risk factors, including blood pressure and lipidemia. In this study, the exclusion criteria for diagnosing DMI1 included the use of antihypertensive or lipid lowering drugs, pregnancy and renal, cardiovascular or liver disease.
