- Abstract
Serial fictions became the blockbuster of the nineteenth century with the soap operas. In the twenty-first century are in a fruitful moment both in relation to the popularity achieved due to the technical and the aesthetic quality. Originally from the newspaper pages, serial fictions became accessible by different means such as from televisions, computers and mobile phones, transmitted to mass audiences. Platforms like Netflix, which started business as a home DVD distributor, turned into the producer of successful original serial fictions featuring Orange is the New Black and House of Cards. It is worth highlighting the dramatic comedy Club Cuervos which is Netflix's first production entirely Latin American. Football is its central theme, which stresses the importance of sport as part of strategy of captioning audience in Spanish speaking territories. Cuervos Club is a production that stands out for having football not as a mere supplement, but as articulator element of a narrative that focuses on important aspects of contemporary society as male-chauvinism, homophobia and quarrel for power and fame.
