- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of social determinants of health (SDoH) on cardiovascular health and the need for a holistic approach to care. SDoH are the social and environmental circumstances in which people live and can lead to negative health outcomes, including chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease (CVD). The article explores the relationship between SDoH and CVD, focusing on factors such as economic stability, education access, social and community context, physical environment, and healthcare access and quality. It also highlights the concept of social prescribing as a multidisciplinary approach to address SDoH and improve cardiovascular health. The integration of social prescribing into healthcare systems can provide holistic care by targeting both symptoms and underlying social determinants. Overall, addressing SDoH has the potential to reduce CVD and improve societal health.
